About Our Friends
Every year the De Soto Public Library opens its' doors to over 700 patrons and their families in the village and surrounding counties. Our little library of just over 1500 square feet packs a lot into its walls, from providing much needed reference, education and entertainment resources, to events, support services and programming, and providing a safe space for most vulnerable in our community.
The Friends of the De Soto Public Library was formed in December of 2024 when it became obvious that the needs of the library were growing at rapid pace and it needed assistance and support to keep growing. The Friends is an all volunteer non-profit organization, bringing people from all walks of life to support a greatly needed in resource our area. Rural life is complicated, the challenges of poverty, isolation and loneliness are very real. We hope to support the continuing growth and development of the library, and help build a space that provides respite and enjoyment to all in our community.
